Pioneer Prairie II Wind Farm, the second phase of Pioneer Prairie, is located in Mitchell County, Iowa. With 62 Vestas V82 1.65 MW turbines, the wind farm has an installed capacity of 102 MW. Construction began in the summer of 2008, and the wind farm achieved commercial operation in January 2009. The clean, renewable electricity generated by the wind farm will be sold into the regional wholesale market. AmerenUE purchases the clean renewable energy generated at the wind farm.
